Privacy
At Moovaza Ltd (trading as RunCats), privacy, confidentiality, and security are extremely important.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy sets out how we look after any data we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with and how long we keep it for. This Privacy Policy will also tell you about privacy rights and how the law protects you.
This Privacy Policy relates to your access and use of our website at runcatsapp.com, my.runcatsapp.com, the Android and iOS mobile apps, and communications related to RunCats.
Who are we?
Moovaza Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under number 16463779. Our registered office is at 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, United Kingdom, W1W 7LT.
Moovaza Ltd is trading as RunCats.
For the RunCats service, Moovaza Ltd acts as the data controller for personal data processed through the app and website.
You control what you share, and you can edit or delete your information at any time in the web and mobile app settings.
What data we collect (and when)
We don’t collect personal data just from you browsing the RunCats website if you do not sign up or contact us.
If you contact us by email or subscribe to a newsletter, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name and email address.
When you create a RunCats account, we collect basic account information like your email address and profile name, along with profile information you choose to share.
Profile information may include photos, a bio, running preferences, availability, and optional personal details to help other runners get to know you. At least one profile photo is required to create an account, and additional profile details are optional. Optional fields can be added, changed, or removed at any time.
If you choose to share location information, we collect an approximate location so we can recommend nearby runners and runs. Location is only requested while the app is in use and is not tracked in the background.
If you post runs on the Runboard, we collect the details you provide about those runs so they can be shown to other runners.
If you connect with other runners and use in-app chat, we store information about those connections and the messages you send.
For security and fraud prevention, we temporarily process IP addresses through Cloudflare. These are not linked to your profile and are retained only for a short period.
How we use your data
We use your information to provide and operate RunCats, including creating and securing accounts, enabling features, and helping runners discover and connect with each other.
Profile information and preferences are used to support discovery, local runner recommendations, and communication features within the app.
We use automated systems within the app to make recommendations. These recommendations do not produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Messages sent through RunCats are used only to deliver communication between users and to support safety and moderation features.
We may use aggregated, anonymized information (which cannot identify you) to understand how RunCats is used and to improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for tracking purposes.
IP addresses processed through Cloudflare are used solely for security, performance, and abuse prevention.
We may use automated checks to help identify and reduce harmful or offensive content and to support the safety of the RunCats community. These checks are limited in scope and are not used for advertizing or profiling.
We may send you service emails that are necessary for your account, such as verification, security notices, and important changes to the service.
Children’s privacy
RunCats is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If we become aware that personal data from someone under 18 has been collected, we will remove it as soon as possible.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we'll only email you when there's something meaningful, like new features, early access, feedback opportunities, or updates.
We may ask for location optionally to help plan app rollouts and reach runners worldwide, but you never have to give it.
We may look at overall stats (like how many people opened an email) to guide what we send in the future. We use these stats to understand what’s useful and improve what we send. We do not use them for advertising or third-party tracking.
Emails and messages
If you email us, we'll only use your info to respond. We won't sign you up to anything or share your messages without permission.
Once your query is resolved, we'll delete the info unless there's a good reason to keep it (like ongoing collaboration).
Surveys and feedback
Surveys are designed to identify what runners want or need.
Unless stated otherwise, these are anonymous and are only used to improve RunCats.
Cookies
Right now, RunCats landing website and web app do not use any non-essential cookies.
We only use essential cookies where needed for core functionality like secure login, payments, and security. This may include session cookies and cookies set by Stripe during payment flows.
We don't use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
If this changes in the future, we’ll update this policy and explain how it impacts you.
Third parties
We use trusted partners like Mailchimp (for newsletters), Stripe (for payments), Cloudflare (security and infrastructure services), Laravel Cloud (provisioning, as a proxy between us and AWS), Elastic Search (runner recommendations and filtering), Sentry (error and performance reporting), and AWS (data storage, infrastructure, hosting, and emails). These are necessary for hosting our site, data, and for security.
These providers process personal data only on our instructions to help us run and secure RunCats (for example, hosting, payments, email delivery, and error monitoring). They are not permitted to use your data for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
We choose providers carefully and make sure they meet high standards for data protection and security. These services are necessary for RunCats to function.
As we add more integrations, we'll update this policy to reflect any new third parties we work with.
Where your data goes
Some data is stored securely in the UK or EU. Our primary database is located in London.
We also use trusted service providers that may process data outside the UK or EU (for example, email delivery services).
When data is processed outside the UK or EU, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely and in line with applicable data protection laws.
How your data is stored
We only keep the data you give us for as long as we need it — for example, to reply to an email you sent us, to send you the newsletter (if you signed up), or to host your RunCats account (if you register).
Some personal data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable time frame (typically within 24 hours), unless we are legally required to keep it for longer. Backups may be retained for up to 30 days.
We use Cloudflare and Amazon AWS servers to store user data. The information you provide to us for your RunCats account will be stored in the UK or Europe.
Messages sent through RunCats are stored to provide chat between users. Chat history is retained while your account is active and is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable time frame after account deletion (typically within 24 hours), unless retention is required for legal, safety, or abuse prevention purposes.
How is your information protected?
We use Cloudflare, Laravel Cloud and Amazon AWS servers to host our services. All information sent between your device and our platform is encrypted using industry-standard SSL connections.
We also use Cloudflare to serve this website and help protect our platform from attacks and improve performance.
Only people who need access to your data (for example, to respond to a message you sent us or help resolve a query) are allowed to access your data. They're required to keep it confidential.
Though no system can be 100% secure, we follow industry best practices to protect your data, both when it's being transmitted and when it's stored.
We will never sell or share your personal data unless we're required to by law.
If a serious data breach occurs, we will notify you and act in line with UK law.
Why we're allowed to use your data
UK data laws require us to have a reason to use your data. Here are the main ones:
• You gave us consent (like signing up for the newsletter or filled out a survey).
• You messaged us and want a response.
• It’s necessary to provide the service you request (for example, creating an account, local runner recommendations, messaging, and Runboard features).
• We’re improving the app or protecting our site (legitimate interest). Where possible, data will be anonymized, with no identifiable information.
You can ask us to stop using your data or withdraw consent at any time.
Your privacy rights
You can ask us at any time to:
• See what personal information we hold about you
• Correct or delete your personal information
• Request a copy of your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format
• Restrict or object to certain uses of your data
You can delete your RunCats account at any time inside the web or mobile app settings using the “Delete account” button.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] and we’ll help.
Concerns?
If you're not happy with how we handle your data, we'd love a chance to sort it out. Please email us first!
You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, the ICO: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/
Changes to this policy
If anything changes, we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date.
As RunCats grows, we'll keep this policy up to date with what the app and website does.
